The Priory Church of St. Mary and St. Michael sits at the heart of the busy, friendly village and community of Cartmel on the edge of the Lake District in South Cumbria.  The Priory Church has been a place of prayer and inspiration since its foundation by William Marshal, 1st Earl of Pembroke, well over 800 years ago.  We are open daily and offer our local congregation and visitors from all over the world 1,000 services or more every year ranging in style and length from very simple acts of worship to larger more ceremonial occasions.  These services are open to all, so whatever brings you to the Priory or whatever your faith you are most welcome.  If you wish simply to find a haven from the pressures of the world outside or would like to enjoy the history of the church and share the space where so many have prayed for so many hundreds of years you will also be welcome.

Nick Devenish - Vicar for the Priory Church.

The service at 10.45am is informal, using both modern worship songs and traditional hymns.

The Third Sunday of the month is an All-Age Service.

The Second and Fourth Sundays in the month are Holy Communion.

The First Sunday of the month is a Service of the Word.

And the occasional Fifth Sunday is could be anything!

Children’s groups usually meet during the 10.45am service, except when it is an All-Age Service.

Quality Tea and coffee is served following services and we often have home-made biscuits!
